At the 2022 Met Gala earlier this year, the trend-setting Hailey Bieber showed off her beautiful and iconic “glazed donut” nails! Mimicking the glaze topping on an actual glazed donut, these nails have a pearlescent appearance and beautiful glow. Hailey’s nails for the Met Gala were done by Zola Ganzorigt (@nailsbyzola on IG), and were created as a gel manicure. The exact process of creating Hailey’s glazed donut nails can be found in this video, but if you are looking for how to get a similar look without gel polish and no curing in UV/LED light, then this is the combo for you!*
*note: this is a winterized version of the iconic glazed donut look, and the combo I am sharing offers a slight pink undertone, as well as some cute snowflake nail art!
The Polish
The nail lacquers I used to create these iridescent wintery nails are a combination of a sheer nude base with a pearlescent pink color. The sheer nude base color is called “The Queen Takes Her Tea With Milk” by Olive & June. The pearlescent pink color is called “Pink Goldfish” by Olive & June. “Pink Goldfish” is the most stunning color I’ve put on my nails – it’s a MUST in my polish collection!
The Application Process
After applying your favorite clear base coat, apply one coat of the sheer nude color. Once this dries, apply three coats of “Pink Goldfish”, making sure each coat properly dries before applying the next. This combo creates a beautiful, pink-toned version of the iconic glazed donut nails!
Optional: Adding Nail Art
Since I am a huge fan of nail art, I added some snowflakes to my thumb and ring finger nails to winter them up! To create the snowflake nail art, I used the color “Cheers!” by Olive & June. This pale icy blue color is perfect for creating a wintery design! For the snowflake, use a small dotting tool to create a tiny dot on your nail.
Then, taking a very thin liner brush, draw 5 lines extending from the dot in the center. Add two more very small lines, in a v-shape, to the tip of each of those five lines. Then add two more small lines in a v-shape to the middle of those original five lines. This will create a super cute snowflake design! Once the design is dry, apply one coat of your favorite top coat and voila!
