Wander the NJ Sunflower Trail
Upon arrival, the friendly staff at Von Thun Farms will assist you with admissions ticketing in the market store. There are a variety of different attractions available during the summer, from U-pick fruit to the Sunflower Trail and more. Pricing and details can all be found on their website here. I recommend getting tickets for the Sunflower Trail during July/early August, the farm’s main summer highlight. The sunflowers offer endless photo opportunities. Admission is $16.99 per person on weekends and $14.99 on weekdays.
Pick Your Own Flowers
Why just admire the sunflowers when you can take some home? After purchasing admission to the Sunflower Trail, you have the option to pick your own stems at $6 for every three stems. You can also buy a vase to create a stunning bouquet. A tent near the fields is set up with friendly staff ready to assist you with the U-pick options.
U-pick summer flowers are also available. A variety of jars and vases are available for purchase at the same tent near the fields. We went with a mason jar, which cost $10, and we were able to take our jar into the field, pick the summer flowers, and fill it to take home.
More Than Just Flowers
Von Thun Farms offers more than just flowers. You can also enjoy U-pick fruit when in season. This activity requires a separate entry ticket ($3 per person on weekdays and $5 on weekends). Depending on what you choose to pick, there are different-sized containers available. We picked some delicious peaches, which will be in season through August. Plan Your Visit
To fully enjoy all the attractions, plan to spend at least 3 hours at the farm. July and early August are the ideal times to visit, with the sunflower fields in their prime. Von Thun Farms is also hosting “Sunflower Festival” days in late July and early August, and more information and tickets can be found here.
