Discover the beauty of flower fields across the Garden State this year! New Jersey is home to many scenic farms, and I absolutely love a picturesque flower field. From spring blooms to classic sunflowers, there are plenty of farms to explore all around the state. I’ve put together the ultimate guide to flower fields in New Jersey 2024!
1. Holland Ridge Farms (Cream Ridge, NJ)
When to Visit: Mid-April to Early May (Tulips) & Mid-September to Mid-October (Sunflowers)
Holland Ridge Farms is one of the largest U-pick flower farms in the USA! I have been to this Monmouth County farm multiple times for their U-pick tulips in the spring, and U-pick sunflowers in the fall. The U-Pick Tulips: Spring Spectacular event takes place from mid-April to early May and information/tickets can be found here. The U-Pick Sunflowers: Fall Festival event takes place from mid-September to mid-October and more information/tickets can be found here. Keep an eye on the farm’s website for exact operating dates for each festival.

2. Happy Day Farm (Manalapan, NJ)
When to Visit: June (Lavender) & Early September to Mid/Late-October (Sunflowers & Zinnias)
Happy Day Farm will open to the public for lavender field picking starting June 2024 (exact dates to be announced on their website). 3. Stokes Farm (Old Tappan, NJ)
When to Visit: Summer Season (Summer Flowers & Lavender)
Stokes Farm, nestled in Old Tappan, is one of the largest flower farms in Bergen County, NJ! Flower picking at Stokes Farm will resume in late June of 2024. Flowers available typically include lavender, dahlias, and many more. Keep an eye on the farm’s website and Instagram for updates on exact picking dates and ticket availability.

4. Ward’s Farm (Mannington, NJ)
Ward’s Farm is a sustainable and organic cut-flower farm in South Jersey. The farm hosts BYOB Date Nights/Picnics where guests can enjoy the fields and pick their sunflowers and wildflowers. Please note that if you are planning to visit and would like to do a professional photoshoot with equipment such as a DSLR camera, tripod, etc., you will need to schedule and purchase a Photo Session, which can be done through the website.

5. Alan’s Flower Farm (Chesterfield, NJ)
When to Vist: June to November
Alan’s Flower Farm is planning to offer flower picking and farm visits starting in June. The farm’s most popular flowers include sunflowers and dahlias. Alan’s Flower Farm also typically sells hand-crafted bouquets at local flower markets. Check their Instagram and website to see when they open U-pick flowers and farm visits to the public for 2024.

6. Princeton Lavender (Princeton, NJ)
When to Vist: June to July (Lavender & Farm Animals)
Princeton Lavender invites guests to visit and stroll through their lavender farm, purchase bundles of lavender, and check out the goats and other farm animals on site. Lavender season typically starts in June, so check their website and Instagram for the best time to visit!

7. Mad Lavender Farm (Milford, NJ)
When to Visit: Mid-June to Early July (Lavender)
Visit Mad Lavender Farm during the lavender harvest from mid-June to early July and stroll through the beautiful rows of lavender, pick fresh bouquets, and shop their products. Pick-your-own lavender operates by appointment only and more information/tickets can be found here. The farm also offers other unique events such as Goat Yoga.

8. Alstede Farms (Chester, NJ)
When to Visit: Mid-July to Mid-September (U-Pick Flowers)
Alstede Farms offers pick-your-own berries, flowers, pumpkins, and more, as well as farm tours and events throughout the year. Enjoy picking zinnias and sunflowers from the fields from mid-July through mid-September.

9. Johnson’s Corner Farm (Medford, NJ)
When to Vist: April 6th to April 20th (Tulips), Mid-June to August (Zinnias), & Early September to Mid-October (Sunflowers)
The flower viewing and picking at Johnson’s Corner Farm in Medford starts in early April with their Tulip Trail & Picking. Tickets can be purchased here for Pick-Your-Own Tulips. Zinnias are usually available from mid-June to August along with other fresh produce such as blueberries, peaches, tomatoes, and more. Johnson’s Corner Farm also hosts its annual Sunflower Celebration from early September to mid-October.

10. Hidden Spring Lavender & Alpacas (Skillman, NJ)
When to Visit: June to July (Lavender) & Year-round (Alpacas)
Hidden Spring Lavender is a family-owned farm that welcomes visitors to walk around the premises and enjoy their lavender fields as well as alpacas. You can also purchase packages to walk an alpaca or do a professional photoshoot in the lavender field. The best time to visit the farm to view the lavender is June and July, and there is no fee to enter! Donations are appreciated.

11. Sunset View Farm (Andover, NJ)
When to visit: August through Mid-October
Sunset View Farm is a dahlia farm and community garden located in Andover, NJ that boasts anywhere from 7,000 to 12,000 dahlias and zinnias in a season. This is a picturesque, family-operated farm nestled in Sussex County that offers a variety of unique events throughout the summer & fall seasons. Tickets/info for the farm’s special events such as Dessert in the Dahlias, the Tuscan Sunset Dinner, and the Flower Power 60’s dance too can be found here. It is recommended to visit the farm between mid-September and mid-October for peak blooms.

12. Pleasant Valley Lavender (Morganville, NJ)
When to Visit: Mid-June to July (Lavender)
Pleasant Valley Lavender offers U-pick lavender during the summer season. The season typically starts in mid-June and runs into July. When tickets are available for purchase, they should be displayed here.

13. Dalton Farms (Swedesboro, NJ)
When to Vist: April (U-Pick Tulips) & Late August to Mid-October (U-Pick Dahlias & Sunflowers)
Dalton Farms welcomes visitors to their 5th annual U-Pick Tulip Season in Spring of 2024. Guests ages 3+ are required to have an admission ticket. Discounts are available when purchased in advance online. The anticipated opening for U-Pick Tulip Season is March 30, 2024. More info can be found on their website here. Additionally, Dalton Farms offers U-Pick Dahlias and Sunflowers from late August to mid-October.

14. Johnson’s Locust Hall Farm (Jobstown, NJ)
When to Visit: June to August (U-Pick Field Flowers) & June to October (U-Pick Sunflowers)
Johnson’s Locust Hall Farm offers rustic charm and a few different U-pick options including sunflowers, field flowers, and fresh produce. The summer harvest season from late June to August is the best time to visit to pick sunflowers and field flowers. You can also see and pick sunflowers during the fall season, and enjoy other farm activities.

15. Von Thun Farms (Washington, NJ)
When to Visit: July to August (Sunflowers)
Von Thun Farms in Washington is a great spot to visit during the summer if you want to take in the beauty of vibrant sunflowers. Walk through their sunflower trail this summer starting in July, and enjoy other fun events/activities hosted by the farm spring through fall!

16. Terhune Orchards (Princeton, NJ)
When to Visit: July to October (U-Pick Summer Flowers)
Terhune Orchards is a fun spot to visit in the Princeton area and has a lot to offer from a winery to a wide selection of pick-your-own flowers/produce, farm animals, and more. I visited this farm in the summer of 2020 and adored our day here. They have colorful flowers all around the property and other touches that are great for photos! The pick-your-own flower season runs from July through October.

17. Melick’s Town Farm (Oldwick, NJ)
When to Visit: July to September (U-Pick Summer Flowers)
Melick’s Town Farm’s Oldwick location has beautiful U-pick flower fields open from July through September. Admission is free and you pay per stem. There is also a small farm market on site selling a variety of fresh produce, baked goods, and more.

18. Silverton Farms (Toms River, NJ)
When to Visit: May to October (U-pick Flowers)
Silverton Farms is conveniently located almost immediately off the parkway in Toms River. This family-run farm has a strong focus on sustainability and offers a pick-your-own experience for fresh produce and flowers during the summer months.

19. Stony Hill Farms (Chester, NJ)
When to Visit: July (Lavender) & August (Sunflowers & Wildflowers)
Stony Hill Farms offers U-Pick wildflowers, lavender, and sunflowers during the summer months. Their fields are open for picking on select dates during the growing season and typically run from July to mid-October. An admission fee is required per person and stems typically cost $1-$3 each.
