October is right around the corner which means pumpkin season is officially upon us! Pumpkin picking is one of my favorite fall activities to do this time of year tied with apple picking! I’ve rounded up five of the best spots in Monmouth County to go pumpkin picking at this fall 2022.
1. Happy Day Farm (Manalapan, NJ)

Fall Festival 2022: Fridays, Saturdays, Sundays & Oct. 10: 10am-5pm (last entry at 4pm)
Happy Day Farm in Manalapan is one of my fav spots to visit during the fall season! I visited this farm last September and had such a fun day! Happy Day Farm’s famous fall festival runs until October 31. The full Fall Festival experience includes 35+ different activities including pumpkinville (photo ops with pumpkin displays), pumpkin picking, a corn maze, pig races, tractor rides, a fun slide, feeding zoo, games etc… You can access all 35+ activities of the fall festival on Friday-Sunday, plus Monday, October 10. Tickets can be purchased here for $24 per person and are ONLINE ONLY! You must buy tickets in advance online, and cannot purchase them at the gate for these dates! Pumpkins are $0.79 per pound. Happy Day Farm has food concessions including options such as pizza, cheese steaks, fries, burgers, hotdogs, chicken tenders, gyros, zeppoles, fried oreos, apple fritters, funnel cakes, fresh squeezed lemonade & more! They have plenty of parking on premises.
Happy Day Farm is also open in October on Mondays, Wednesdays & Thursdays for limited fall activities. The farm is closed on Tuesdays. Tickets to enter the farm Monday, Wednesday & Thursday are $21 per person, and can only be purchased in person, at the gate, for cash only! Included in this ticket is their zinnia flower field, pumpkin picking, and all pumpkinville photo-ops.
2. Red Wagon Farm (Manalapan, NJ)

Open daily 10am-5pm until Halloween
If you are looking for a classic pumpkin picking off-the-vine experience in Monmouth County, then Red Wagon Farm in Manalapan is a great option. I visited fall of 2020 and found this to be an easy, fun spot for pumpkin picking. Red Wagon’s pumpkin patch is located off the side of the road on Route 33. Admission is free, and includes access to *paid activities such as pumpkin picking, a corn maze, hay rides, a petting zoo, and their food truck. They also offer free activities such as corn hole, tug of war, a rock treasure hunt and photo ops. The farm is cash only and they allow friendly, leashed dogs in the pumpkin field only. They have parking on premises.
*Admission is free, but here are the costs of everything at the farm:
- Face Pumpkins $0.69 per pound.
- Hay rides $6.00 per person.
- Corn maze $7.00 per person.
- Pony rides $9.00 per person.
- Petting zoo $9.00 per person.
BONUS: Red Wagon Farm has a second location in Monroe (Middlesex County) now open for 2022!

Monday-Friday: closed
Paid activities: pumpkin picking, corn maze, hay rides, pony rides, petting zoo & food.

3. Eastmont Orchards (Colts Neck, NJ)

Open daily: 9am-5pm. Saturdays & Sundays 9am-6pm
Eastmont Orchards is a local favorite for pick-your-own apples and pumpkins! Apple picking is currently still offered at Eastmont Orchards as of late September 2022, and will continue into mid-October. Pumpkin picking has begun at Eastmont Orchards and will be offered throughout October. Pumpkins are $0.69 per pound and apples are $2.29 per pound. Check out their website or call their info line at 732-542-5404 for more information.
For entry on weekends and holidays:
- Entrance fee of $2 per person ages 2+ (this fee is for weekends only)
- Food Vendors include: mini donuts, apple cider, popcorn, roasted corn, ice cream & hot dogs
- Hayrides are available from 10:30 am – 3:30pm for $5 per person ages 2+
Apple picking:
- Free bags while supplies last or you can purchase reusable tote bags for $2 each
- It is recommended to bring your own bag, but they must be empty upon entry
Tip: while you’re in the area, I recommend driving a few minutes over to Delicious Orchards for some local produce, baked goods and more market goods!
4. A. Casola Farms (Holmdel, NJ)

Open daily until Halloween: 9am-6pm
A. Casola Farms in Holmdel offers a variety of fall-related activities including pumpkin picking, a corn maze, hayrides & more! A. Casola Farms is a family-friendly spot for fall activities, and will also have face-painting, pony rides, a haunted house, and more attractions for an additional cost. Admission to the farm is free, but make sure to check out the costs of activities at the farm below. Food such as burgers, hot dogs, chicken tenders, fresh apple cider doughnuts and slushees, and more will be available for purchase at the farm.

5. Battleview Orchards (Freehold, NJ)
Address: 91 Wemrock Rd, Freehold, NJ
Open everyday except Tuesdays.
Country Store: 9am-6pm. Pumpkin Picking: 9am-4pm through October 30
Battleview Orchards in Freehold offers both apple and pumpkin picking currently at their farm. Pumpkin picking is expected to continue until Sunday, October 30. Apple picking is expected to be available into October, but not for the whole month. Make sure to check their facebook page for daily updates on their hours and what is available for picking at the farm. You can enjoy pumpkin picking at Battleview Orchards from 9am-4pm everyday, expect Tuesdays when they are closed. Hayrides will only be offered on weekends and cost $4 per person. Last entry to the farm for picking is fifteen minutes before they close at 4pm.
Pumpkins are $0.79 per pound. Make sure you have cash as it is cash only at the orchard. You can shop at the country market from 9am-6pm everyday expect Tuesdays, and purchase some yummy food and goods! Strollers are not allowed in the country store on weekends due to large crowds. Pets are NOT allowed at the farm, no exceptions!
